Carol was born in Saskatchewan, but moved to Manitoba at a very young age and has lived in Winnipeg since the age of 14. Her interests as a child included colouring and painting, as well as photography and piano through her teens. She taught piano for 10 years while living in St. Andrews, raising her family.
She became hooked on painting while wintering in Mexico in 2015, and was invited to attend an art class with a neighbour. She was so impressed with the class, she went straight to the art store to get paints and brushes, and hasn't stopped since !
Here in Winnipeg, she has taken several classes both oil and acrylic at the Forum Art Centre, some workshops at Artists Emporium, and many online tutorials, in both acrylic and oils. Most recently, she joined the Acrylic University online, with Jed Dorsey, and is now studying Impressionistic styles with Rod Moore from the Learn to Paint Academy in Australia.
Carol is still looking for her voice in painting. She continually searches for different subjects, different styles, new techniques in brushwork and mediums and is impatient to learn everything at once! She is also studying Italian, as it is her dream to winter in Italy in a year or two- and paint the fantastic sights in that country.
She is very pleased to have been accepted as a new member and looks forward to learning from this talented group.
