Donna Carol Cuming

Donna came late to the wonderful world of art with a few short courses starting in 2005.  Her first course was with Jennifer LabBella at the Conservatory in the Park and not only was the setting ideal, but Jennifer was very patient with the very novice artist and imparted a love of watercolour painting.  Since then Donna has taken a variety of courses through the Winnipeg Leisure guide, Guy St. Godard, the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Leona Brown.  After two workshops in Spain and Italy with Leona Brown, her interest in painting increased and other wrokshops followed in Wisconsin with Karlyn Homan, Sterling Edwards and Cheng-Khee Chee.

Donna retired as an Occupational Health Nurse in 2013 and joined the Charleswood Art Group where she has participated in many workshops and met more wonderful inspiring artists.

Her artwork is varied with tradional watercolour techniques, abstracts, mixed medium collage, alcohol inks and acrylics.  Five of her works were exhibited in juried art shows at the Buhler Gallery and a collage/mixed medium piece was sold at the 2015 Red River Exhibition Show.

Her quote is "Art is poetry for the eyes".  An important aspect learning to paint for Donna is to look and feel the environment while watching for light, shadows and colours.

Donna is grateful to have met the many talented artists who have inspired her over the last decade and she calls them friends.
