Rosella Farmer

 

I was born and raised in Woodstock, Ontario and attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.  I have lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba for many years and joined the Charleswood Art Group in 2003 so that I could learn to paint in watercolour.  In 2010 I became a juried member of the Manitoba Society of Artists and served on the executive committee as the membership chair for four years.

 

Art has always been something that fascinated me, but I did not start painting until I was in my late 20's when I joined a small art club in Scarborough, Ontario and was encouraged to start doing portraits in soft pastel.  This began a long fascination for working in this medium.  Since then I have also tried my hand at acrylics, oil pastel, pen and ink and mixed media.  To me, colour is all important and I am continually trying to use it to give my paintings life and interest.
