Manitoba artist Ruth Partridge has been painting for over 30 years. Her favorite medium is watercolor due to the fluidity and transparent effects she is able to achieve with it as she attempts to capture the beauty and mystery of her surroundings. Constatnly seeking new artistic challenges, she has recently experimented with acrylics, pastels and liquid oils. Ruth particularly loves to paint landscape scenes of Manitobans enjoying outdoor activities plus the floweres in her garden inspire her to capture their beauty in paint. The impressionists, post-impressionists, Canadian Group of Seven, Edward Hopper and Childe Hassam are her inspiration.
Influenced by the artistic women in her family, Ruth has always been involved with creative activities. She has studied with Manitoba artists Eileen Korponay and John Gaudes, Canadian artists, Susan Woolgar, Grant Fuller, Jean Pederson and Linda Kemp as well as American watercolourist Tom Lynch.
Ruth is a member of the Charleswood Art Group. Her wrok has been displayed over the years at a number of Winnipeg locations and art shows and is enjoyed in homes throughout Canada and the United States.
