Welcome to the Home Page of the Charleswood Art Group!

HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY to CHARLESWOOD ART GROUP APRIL 30, 2021

From a small nucleus of 5 artists who first gathered in 1951, the Charleswood Art Club is still proud to be an integral part of Winnipeg’s art scene.
Here we are, 70 years later, as 50 members in our vibrant group continue to come together to be stimulated  and inspired as we create works of art to be shared with the community at large.

The Charleswood Art Group was established in 1951 by five artists and today we have 50 members who work in a variety of mediums and styles.  Over the years the group has been an integral part of the Charleswood community and many of our members have become well-known artists both here in Manitoba, across the country and abroad.

Our mission is to provide a stimulating environment for our members; an environment that will nurture inspiration, creativity and opportunities to exhibit their work.

We gather weekly on Mondays, September through May at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Buckingham at Eldridge and during the summer months we enjoy weekly "plein air" outings around Winnipeg and rural areas.  We have no regular instructors but we do arrange frequent workshops throughout the year with various Manitoba artists as well as our own talented members.

The Charleswood Art Group holds their annual SPRINGTIDE SHOW and SALE, the last weekend of April.  Each year our show holds a raffle of art donated by members to support the Manitoba CancerCare Art Therapy Program.

Go to "Our Artists" page to view our art and also "Photo Gallery". Mobile devices click white box to view pages.

COVID  resulted in the cancellation of members gathering for our weekly sessions and the workshops planned throughout our program year, but our wonderful program committee led by chairs Monica Bailey and Linda Rubell set up a series of exercises/challenges Sept. - May sent through our weekly newsletter to keep our creative juices flowing. See the description of challenges in the blog and photos of art shared in the photo gallery.

NEW! Charleswood Art Group members' artwork can now be found on another web site set up by member Bill Rayner, one that is exclusively focused on the Assiniboine Forest.  The site is new, and we have just a few members participating, but we expect that as time goes by others will submit their interpretations of forest scenes.  The web site is called Assiniboine Forest Fine Art, and it's part of a larger web site called Assiniboine Forest Trails.  You can access the site through www.a4fineart.blogspot.com, or you can get to it through www.a4trails.blogspot.com and then clicking Artwork.  And from Assiniboine Forest Trails, you can also visit Assiniboine Forest Plant Life. Have a visit; enjoy the forest through seasonal photos, learn about the plants that can be found in the forest, and enjoy the art.
