Deloris

Long

Born on the Alberta prairie, Deloris has had a strong interest in the outdoors and art since childhood.  In the fall of 2000, while a full-time teacher, she began courses to develop her artistic skills.  She attended courses and workshops at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Forum Art Institute, Artists Emporium, Leading Edge Art workshops and The Arts West Council Artist Retreat at Clear Lake.   Recently she took workshops taught by Brian Ateo and Anthony Steffes.

As a classroom teacher, teaching art was a strong interest and Deloris conducted workshops for classroom teachers in the areas of art concepts, techniques and in various art media appropriate for students in grades 2 to 6.  Following retirement in June, 2007, Deloris joined the Charleswood Art Group where she continues to refine her artistic skills and express her creativity.

In her paintings Deloris strives to capture the colors, light, mood and energy as she sees them in her  subject matter which include plants, Canadian wild animals, birds and landscapes.  Almost any subject matter can be an inspiration for Deloris’ art.

Deloris paints with watercolour and acrylic. She used her own photographs with a collage technique and acrylic paint to create Lake Winnipeg and park landscapes.  Recently, she used collage to create paintings of flowers and birds.

Cards with original art are also available. For commission work or to enquire about any of the pieces seen here please contact the artist at longdl@mymts.net
