Terry

Murray

Looking for a creative focus after retirement, Terry chose watercolour painting. It built on her love of gardening, colour and photography. She has taken classes with local and international artists to develop her technique.

Terry loves the range of effects you can achieve with watercolour from soft and light to bold and vibrant. She is intrigued by the beauty and complexity in nature and loves the challenge of trying to capture it in her paintings.

Influenced by the elegance and simplicity of Asian art, Terry chooses to focus on the flower ensuring that it takes centre stage. She paints flowers that she has an emotional reaction to because of their colour or shape.

Terry finds painting very relaxing and a wonderful way to deal with the stresses of life. It is a joy to start with a blank sheet of paper and end with a finished painting. It is always a surprise!
