Partridge

Manitoba artist Ruth Partridge has been painting for most of her adult life and although she has tried many mediums her greatest love is watercolour due to the fluidity and transparent effects she can achieve with the medium as she attempts to capture the beauty and mystery of her surroundings. She particularly loves to paint landscapes that tell a story and the flowers in her garden inspire her to capture their beauty in paint. The impressionists, post-impressionists, American artists, Edward Hoppe, John Singer Sargent and Childe Hassam are her inspiration. Ruth has always been involved with creative activities such as sewing, needle arts and gardening. She attributes her start in watercolour to lessons she took with Eileen Korpony at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and to the classes she attended with the late Winnipeg artist, John Gaudes. She has also taken classes with Canadian artists Susan Woolgar, Grant Fuller, Jean Pederson and Linda Kemp and American artists Tom Lynch and Thomas Schaller. Ruth has been a member of the Norwood Grove Art Group and the Fort Garry Palette Club and is presently a member of the Charleswood Art Group. She has displayed her art at Winnipeg locations and art shows over the years and her paintings are enjoyed in homes and corporations throughout Canada and the United States. Ruth Partridge can be reached at (204) 269-3224 or email rpartrid@mts.net.
